New season bridesmaids dresses for weddings of every style
The popular urban myth of ‘Bridezillas’ dressing their bridesmaids in frumpy, unflattering dresses so they don’t steal the Bride’s thunder on the big day is being well and truly dispelled by the modern bride – who could forget Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaids outfit on her sister Kate’s big day?
So many brides want their bridesmaids to look as fabulous as they do (well, almost!) and have a beautiful dress that they could even wear to other events. Click here to see recommended bridesmaid dresses.
Choosing the right bridesmaids dress can be almost as difficult (sometimes more so!) as selecting your wedding dress. You have to consider the scheme of your wedding, if the colours will suit all your bridesmaids and then take account of their different personal styles, shapes and budget as well…not to mention getting everyone in room at the same time to try them on!
To make things a little simpler, we’ve put together a list of popular bridesmaid trends and a gallery of our favourite dresses from traditional floor sweeping dresses to simpler styles that would look great on a bridesmaid or guest.
Twist and Wrap:
Our red-carpet worthy twist and wrap dress is available in a variety of colours and 2 lengths (short and long). The straps can be tied in different ways to create 15 different styles, so even the fussiest of maids will find a variation she likes!
Short and Sweet
Floor length gowns are not for everyone, and at many black tie events it’s very common to see dresses on or just above the knee. Choosing a party or cocktail dress that everyone agrees on from the high street can often save a lot of time, money and energy in bridal boutiques.
Lace and Nude
Make like Kate and dress your bridesmaids in a pale nude or soft pink, it will make a lovely, subtle contrast to your dress and is very flattering on most skin tones.
Chic in Chiffon
If you are looking for something a little softer than the traditional boned satin dresses, why not try a pretty pastel flowing chiffon dress? These look gorgeous whether short or long and can add a real touch of glamour.
Tried and Tested
There’s a reason people return over and over to the traditional shapes, our long satin bridesmaid gowns look lovely all lined up and are perfect for more formal affairs.
Wedding Planning Checklist
- Begin the guest list: Make a headcount of all of the people you are looking to invite. The best way to do this is via a database document where you can keep contact info, RSVPs and gifts. More advice.
- Reserve a date and venue: Choose whether you want separate locations or the same for the ceremony and reception. Travel time will need to be factored in.
- Research photographers, videographers and bands. It is important that you have a team that you feel confident are going to do a superb job on your big day.
